I recently completed the Change Leader Inventory, and, though I was exposed to the material before, had never formally completed and debriefed the assessment. As a leadership educator, practitioner and student, I can attest to the power of the CLI to increase our self-awareness, thereby making us more authentic people, and, thus, more authentic leaders - a quality that is vital in today's diverse and rapidly changing world. Personally, the assessment provided me with things to think about, and I am a fairly self-aware person already (though there is always more to learn). Debriefed properly, there is a vital opportunity for the taker to engage in genuine self-reflection, which is always personally empowering. Additionally, if you combine the use of the CLI with other assessments, perhaps the MBTI and FourSight, and maybe even Kouzes and Posner's Leadership Practices Inventory (LPI) you are able to see preferences for managing and initiating change, solving problems, communicating and building relationships emerge, which are all valuable leadership skills.
